The “Time is Now” Emerging Entrepreneurs Festival came about in 2012, after the festival’s founder Arthur Stuart, wanted to give the young leaders of the Triad a voice in the startup landscape. After a successful first year, the Time is Now is back to push more aspiring entrepreneurs to innovate now. Our objective is bringing together like-minded, students, young professionals, and other aspiring entrepreneurs from a variety of areas of expertise (creatives, food, art/entertainment, tech, and product & consumer products) together to share, gain insight, and celebrate entrepreneurship.
• Innovation– To encourage new business ideas and visions, not to try to add on to what is already in the marketplace.
• Education– To provide thorough content for our attendees, how to create proper business plans, and intricate details one should look into BEFORE one starts a business.
• Act– The difference between this festival and other entrepreneur events/conferences, is that by the end if the festival, we would like to actually see ideas converted to businesses. We will reiterate to our audience that, ideas that aren’t executed are just ideas. Action and taking those first steps into the unknown, is what is what it is going to take to change the world.
• Engage– Collaboration and the sharing of ideas is what is missing in our communities. Getting young people from a variety of backgrounds to come together to share insights with one another.
The festival will be taking place November 15, 2013 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the Elm Street Center. The event will kickoff the series of events that will be taking place during Global Entrepreneurship Week of events.
The “Time is Now” festival, is the premier annual event of the Shift Here organization, which is group of entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. Shift’s objective is to make the Greensboro more of a startup community, and create a platform for emerging entrepreneurs to get more exposure and insight for their businesses. Shift’s monthly meetup takes place the first Wednesday of every month at the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship.
