Before I get into what this festival is all about, let me give you a little background on how this all came about. I started down this road of being a student ambassador sort to speak for entrepreneurship in 2009. I joined the Aggie Entrepreneurship club where I served as president for two-terms, and it was there where I realized there was a certain void that I felt needed to be filled in our community.
As I began to meet people within the Greensboro business community, I began to realize there wasn’t much of a young entrepreneurial presence in the grand scheme of things. We have over 50,000 college students within a 10-mile radius, as well as ambitious young professionals but yet we haven’t created anything as a collective. I found something terribly wrong with that picture, and realized something must be done to rectify this.
Fast-forward a year later, and you have this event, the first of what will be many more to come. This festival is a celebration of Entrepreneurship, and the creation of a network of tomorrow’s leaders. We’re all working towards accomplishing some of the same goals, so why can’t we encourage, and share our talents with one another?
So here we are, and the GEMS #Gsotimeisnow Action team and I are very excited to what is to come. Our objective is that this event invokes a movement of youth here in North Carolina. The sky is the limit of where we all go with this ambitious idea, and look forward to enjoying the ride.
